The Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office said Wednesday it has ruled that a couple’s jewelry and other items found in their casket on Christmas Day in the Palmetto State belong to a man and woman who were buried on the same day.

The medical examiner’s office said in a news release Wednesday that it found the jewelry and some of the cremated remains of the couple, a man named Christopher “C.J.”

The medical examiner also said they left behind a note on their vehicle, according to the release.

The notes were found at a funeral home, according the release, which did not identify the funeral home.

The Stapleys were cremated at a cemetery in Florida, the medical examiner said.

The Palm Beach Post, which first reported the news, said the Stapleys’ cremation was in the early hours of Dec. 23, about 4:30 a.m. local time.

The couple’s family and neighbors said the couple died in a fire.

The Staples were cremed at a casket in Palm Springs, California.

The Florida Bureau of Investigation is investigating, the Post reported.
