“You want to get it to the point where it feels natural,” says tattoo artist Nick Smith.
“It doesn’t have to be overly complicated.”
If you’re looking for a tattoo that has a little bit of depth to it, he says, “it’s good to get something that’s a little more natural, that’s got a little less effort.”
If your tattoo looks like a piece of your everyday life, he suggests a medium such as paper, cardboard or a piece you’d buy on a daily basis.
He also recommends a “big, bold” tattoo, as opposed to a “small, subtle” one.
“You should be able to find a piece that you feel is going to go over really well,” he says.
“Then you’ll be able take a lot of your time to get the perfect ink.”
If a tattoo is a bit of a mess, it’s ok to pick up a template and start over.
“I’d suggest that you go back and pick up some other templates,” he advises.
“There are many templates that can be found online that you can use to help you create your own style.”
And if you’re really into a specific style, he advises getting a tattoo on your body first, before you have any other piercings, scars or tattoos.
“Pick a piece and just go for it,” he recommends.
“But if you get it right, it will be a beautiful piece.” “
So, you’re going to want to wait a while to get an ink you’re happy with,” he adds.
“But if you get it right, it will be a beautiful piece.”
If the tattoo you’re after is a small one, like a pencil or a tattoo needle, Smith says you might want to try a more traditional style of tattooing.
“The key is to do it the right way,” he explains.
“That’s what I like to do, and it’s the only way I’m able to create my own style.”
If you have more than one piece of artwork to choose from, there are a few tips to get your tattoo to the right place.
“Choose a piece from your collection that’s going to be comfortable to hold,” he suggests.
“Have it on your arm or on your leg,” he notes.
“And do something to accentuate your arm and leg.”
“Try different angles and colors,” he offers.
“Some tattoos will have to do with a particular theme or a specific area of the body,” he warns.
“To be able really to express yourself with a tattoo, you really need to find something that works for you.”
“And then, if you really want something bold and a little different, you should definitely try something bolder,” he continues.
“A bolder tattoo will really stand out in a crowd.
And it’s very flattering to look at.”
If there’s a specific tattoo you want, “you can always pick a different style of design, but you have to go with the style that feels natural and you have the confidence that it will look good,” he urges.
“We’ve seen a lot over the years that there are very few tattoo shops that cater to the tattooed person, and we want to make sure that our shop is one of them.”
“It’s a great way to give your friends, family and loved ones a reason to come to your studio and see you,” he concludes.
“They can get the tattoos and really get to know you as a person and see your unique style and personality.
And they can take a photo and show it to your family, friends and their friends, who might not have a tattoo themselves.”
